Your "Mystery of the Seven Directions" is excellent. The comparative religion/tradition aspect of the first section in which you tease out the meaning and symbolism of the directions made me think of Jung and Eliade, but with much more succinct, focused writing than one often finds in their works. You simplify, without being simplistic or reductionistic. In doing so you've really brought a number of things together, such as the cube of space, the magic circle, the chakras, the three-dimensional cross, St Patrick's Breastplate, etc. I can imagine one use of this as the basis for constructing a tarot spread, something like the Celtic Cross but richer. So far my work with the second section (besides reading it through) has been limited to routinely reciting the "Spirit Compass," but I have found that to have a grounding and centering effect . . . Thanks! mkk |
