Light from the Green Mantle Vol I |
“Fiona Macleod” was a pseudonym of William Sharp (1855-1905), who was already well-established as a writer and literary critic when in the mid 1890’s he began producing a new body of work dealing with the Celtic spirit and the magic of Faery. Sharp was involved in the Western Magical Tradition and his taking of the name Fiona Macleod was akin to assuming a magical motto or mystery name. Spiritual forces flowed through him that inspired other important figures in the Magical and Celtic revival movements of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, such as Macgregor and Moina Mathers, A.E. (George Russell) and W.B. Yeats. This, the first in a projected series of volumes, deals with the more deeply magical chants, songs and runes of the Fiona Macleod/William Sharp expression. These volumes will provide a much needed thematic presentation of the Celtic magical works of William Sharp. Click image for Table of Contents. |
